Curtis George Abbott

Born October 4, 1941 in rural Dent to Orton Robert and Adeline Ella Lottie (Harthun) Abbott.

The family moved several times settling on a farm on Star Lake in 1947. Curt attended country school through 8th grade, one year high school in Pelican Rapids. In 1984, Curt received his GED.

Curt joined the Navy in February 1961 and spent four years on the USS IWO Jima helicopter carrier stationed in San Diego, CA.

He met Rita Wasson in Minneapolis, MN in March of 1965. The couple was married on September 4, 1965 in Spring Valley, WI.

Curt worked in Minneapolis at Minneapolis Moline and in 1966 bought his own gravel truck. He worked construction in the Minneapolis area changing over to hauling grain until the summer of 1974. The couple moved to Dent and owned and operated Curt's Repair, Curt's Auto Sales and Storage until January 2000.

The couple had two children, Carl Anthony born July 1, 1966 and Michelle Marie born March 10, 1970.

Curt is survived by wife, Rita; son, Carl (Jenny) of Almelund, MN; their children, Cody (21); Anna (13); Tyler (10); daughter, Michelle (Larry) Shereck of Moorhead, MN; and their children Lindsey (24); Benjamin (17); and Curtis (12); three sisters, Beyerly (Carl) Modine of Dent, MN; Marlene (Morris) Martinson of Dent, MN; and Bernice (Ed) Genoch of Dent, MN; one brother, Gary (Linda) Abbott of Roy, MT; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his father, Orton Robert; mother, Adeline Ella Lottie; grandson, Alexander Ray Shereck.

Curt died of multiple medical complications at the Fargo VA on April 11, 2013.
