DORIS COX
A celebration of life memorial service for Doris Cox, 91, of Kiowa, Kan., will be 11 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Kiowa. The Rev. Wayne Stephens will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Eastern Star rites will be performed at the church. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Kiowa.
She was born Oct. 9, 1914, in Kiowa, to Jesse and Annice Johnson Newkirk and died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Kiowa District Hospital.
She graduated from Kiowa High School in 1933. She married Hugh Rexford "Punk" Cox July 31, 1933. He preceded her in death.
She worked at Bank of Kiowa as a teller for 18 years.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Sew and Sew Club and Eastern Star.
Surviving are one son, Larry of Houston; one daughter, Jerry Roy of Bryan, Texas; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Hugh, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Kiowa Hospital District Manor or South Barber scholarship fund.
