Maureen started her education at Mekeel School, a one-room country school in rural Harmon, and attended St. Andrew's Grade School and Walnut Grade School. She was a 1975 graduate of Walnut High School. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls.
Maureen was raised on a farm in rural Harmon. As a former 4-H member she enjoyed exhibiting at local and national livestock shows. She could be found in the barn barefoot and care free enjoying life. She passed her passion for exhibiting livestock onto her son, Tyler. For many years she traveled to Michigan to support him in his own successful livestock ventures with Uncle Matt and his family.
She formerly lived in Champaign, Illinois, Blacksburg, Virginia, Auburn, Alabama, Sioux City, Iowa, and has made her home in Rock Falls for the last 17 years in the former home of her maternal grandfather, Henry Waldschmidt.
She was a treasurer for the Mid-Continent Livestock Exposition and a clerk for the livestock judging contest at The North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky, for many years.
Maureen was an avid reader, loved to spend time in her garden and helping her parents with their flower beds. Her greatest joy was her son, Tyler. She enjoyed following her son and the Newman Comets football and basketball teams. She created many heirloom cross-stitch items that she shared with family and friends. She enjoyed taking photos of family events and documenting them.
She was most recently employed at Bob Propheter Construction LLC. She also previously had been a Longaberger Baskets consultant and worked at Medical Arts Center in Dixon.
She is survived by her beloved son, Tyler Miller Danilson. Her parents, Hugh and Betty, and siblings and spouses, Greg (Eileen) Miller, Fennimore, Wisconsin, Karen (Donnie) Behrens, Harmon, Illinois, Joan (Denny) Hermes, Dixon, Illinois, Kathleen Miller, Wilmington, North Carolina, Pete (Jane) Miller, Harmon, Illinois, Matt (Tara) Miller, Charlotte, Michigan, Michele (Tony) Gillette, Sterling, Illinois, Sheila (Ira Smith) Young, Dixon, Illinois, Jennifer (Karl) Koehler, Sparland, Illinois, and Veronica (Mike) Edwards, Sterling, Illinois. The family circle includes 35 nieces and nephews, two of which were her special godchildren, Kane (Sarah) Gillette and Morgan Maureen Edwards; and 27 great nieces and nephews. Maureen was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and twin niece and nephew.
Visitation will from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday April 18, 2013 at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak, Pastor and the Reverend Bruce Luduke, con-celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Maureen was an inspiration to her son and all that knew her as she met this challenge with inspiring faith and determination. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to MTD Roundup Benefit for her son, Tyler.
