He was the son of Hezekiah Chaney and Fanny Goad. He was apparently named for a brother of his mother, General Harrison Goad, and his father, Kye. He was called "Bud." During his life, he farmed, worked for the railroad (as a "Bull") and traveled south Texas purchasing mules. He died after collapsing while walking home. He and his wife share a headstone.
