Lela Gertrude (Trudy) Stanley, 85, passed from this life to meet her Lord and Savior at 11:48 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 17th, in George West, TX with Pat Traxler officiating. Time is pending.

Viewing in George West will be on Wednesday, February 16th, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Trudy was born on October 19th, 1925, to the late Cordie and Jennie Bishop. She married Hugh Warren Stanley on March 23rd, 1947. They shared many years together, having moved to new locations over twelve times while Hugh served his country in the US Navy and later worked for the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) and Army Strategic Communications (STRATCOM). While holding numerous jobs, Trudy was a full-time wife and mother. She was blessed with a wide variety of talents, many of which she shared with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all have favorite 'stories' about
when they were taught to either: rock hunt, play in accordion bands, bowl in children's leagues, rock hunt all over the Southwest, water ski on any weekend of the year on any lake in the Midwest, flip Tastee Freeze burgers, rock hunt, ceramics, knit, crochet, sew, build rock waterfalls, plant gardens and rock hunt.

Following in her parent's footsteps, Trudy was a forty year active member of the Order of the Eastern Star while Hugh was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. Both proudly served their local chapters in a variety of positions.

Trudy adored and helped raise her grandchildren and loved every minute she had with them. "On The Road Again" was her favorite saying. She and Hugh were known to load up the Winnebago in a heartbeat and travel to help celebrate the births of their grandchildren. She often bragged about traveling to almost all of the lower 48 states.

Her husband and two of her six children preceded her in death. Trudy is survived by two sisters, Jennie Suggs and JoAnn Lang of George West, TX; four children: Phillip Stanley of Oklahoma City, OK; Karen and her husband Lynn Meinershagen of Nevada, MO; Jean and her husband Charles Krempin of Hamilton; Robert and his wife Julia Stanley, of Hamilton. Trudy leaves behind ten grandchildren: April Stanley and Erin Brown, both of Oklahoma City; Stephen Meinershagen and his Mary, of Nevada, MO; Jason Meinershagen and his wife Judy of St. Charles, MO; David Meinershagen and his wife Naomi of Webb City, MO; Derek Meinershagen of Joplin, MO; Carrie Baker of Hamilton; Tony Krempin and his wife
Tish of Hot Sulphur Springs, CO.; Ramona Walton and her husband Bert Jr. of Hamilton; and Warren Stanley, currently serving in the US Navy in California. She is survived by 27 great grandchildren: Living in Oklahoma Ethan, Lucas, Wyatt, Tristan; living in Missouri-Dustin, Dan, Cherokee, Cheyenne, Stephanie, Atlantis, Noah, Nathan, Tru, Barak, Caleb, Shane; living in Texas-Kade, Abigail, Madalyn, Keegan, Sadie, Jakob, Aiden, Nicholas;
