William ‘Bill' Siems of Caro, age 89 years, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Arbor Hospice Residence in Ann Arbor, following a brief illness. He was born November 13, 1923 in Saginaw, the son of the late Jack & Gretta (Tomlinson) Siems. Following the death of his mother, Bill came to Caro as an infant and was raised by Andrew & Eva (Tomlinson) Wright. Bill graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1941. For several years he continued farming on the family farm, before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Force, serving in the Pacific Theatre. Bill was united in marriage with the former Bonnie Jean Bennett on February 19, 1944 in Caro. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2002. After his discharge from the army, Bill continued farming the family farm on Tomlinson Road outside of Caro. In 1955 Bill started his employment with the Tuscola County Soil Conservation Service that later included Huron and Sanilac Counties. He retired from the USDA in 1984, after nearly thirty years of service. Bill attended and later became a member of the Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church from the age of two years old. Bill was also a life member of the Caro VFW Post 4164 and was a great supporter of the VFW National Children's Home in Grand Rapids. During his free time, Bill enjoyed being with and telling stories to his grandchildren and having coffee with his friends at the Oasis in Caro.

Bill is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Gretta & Richard Michalak of Tawas City, LuAyn S. & Eric Skye of Dexter; five grandchildren, Brent Michalak of Chicago, Amanda Anderson of Boulder, Colorado, Joseph Anderson of Mason, Rachael and Carissa Skye, both of Dexter; one sister Dorothy Quall of Saginaw; one daughter-in-law, Vicki & Michael Anderson of Mason; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his son, John William Siems in 1991, and by two brothers and one sister.

In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 with Rev. Dorothy J. Thon officiating. A private burial will occur at Almer Township Cemetery later. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church in Caro.
