James Baird and his wife Ethel resided at route 3 Carthage where he had been farming. He passed away at McCune-Brooks Hospital in Carthage from complications of advanced diabetes reported on his Missouri Death Certificate
His parents were David and Mary Ryan Baird, both born in Tennessee. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.

James Matthew Baird, 58, of Carthage route 3, died at 4:55 o'clock yesterday afternoon in McCune-Brooks Hospital where he had been a patient eight days. Mr. Baird had been in ill health 12 years and the last six weeks had been bedfast. He suffered from diabetes.
Mr. Baird came to Carthage in 1923 from Maysville, AR. He was born November 25, 1881 in Williiamsburg, KY. He was married there in 1900 to Mrs,. Martha Jones and five children were born to the couple. She died January 15, 1911, in Williamsburg. In 1920 Mr. Baird married Mrs. Ethel McCall in Maysville, AR.
Surviving Mr. Baird are his wife and three children, Beulah, Mae, David and Luther all of the home, southeast of Carthage; five children by the former marriage; William Francis Baird and Wheeler Lloyd Baird both of Pittsburg, KS.; Howard Baird of Holbrook, AZ.; Foster Baird of Pedernal, N.M. and Mrs. Stella Payne of Oregon; three brothers; F. M. Baird of Kansas City, KS.; T. Y. Baird of Williamsburg and R. C. Baird of Corbin, KY.; a sister, Mrs. Coritha Barke of Woodbine, KY., and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock tomorrow morning at the Ulmer Funeral Home with the Rev. A. A. DuLaney, pastor of the First Baptist church in charge. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
