Mrs Sarah Jane Abbott age 85 passed away at her home on Route 1 Blue Jacket early this morning Dec 7 1948 at 1:10 a.m. after a long illness. Survivors include five sons, homer, herman, jim and clarence abbott all of Vinita and Jess of the home. Two daughters Mrs Gertrude Mercer and Mrs Mamie Voyles both of Vinita Ok. sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren one sister Mrs Maxie Malone of Aldrich Mo. Funeral services will be conducted from the TImber Hill Baptist church wed afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Clarence Bergen of Granby Missouri Officiating. Burial will be made in the Blue Jacket Cemetery under the direction of the Luginbuel Brothers funeral home in Vinita. She and her husband Samuel were pioneers of Oklahoma. They homesteaded in the Cherokee strip near the town of Newkirk in 1893. Later moved to craig county in 1901 and have lived in the present home since 1913. ( I have been told by many that Sarah was the nicest person to have ever walked the earth)Sarah parents were: Reed H. Moore and Nancy A. Unknown last name
