Born on Oct. 9, 1914, in Bronx, N.Y., he was a son of the late Charles and Emma Weiprecht Munch and lived in Monroe County since 1923.
He was parts manager for 18 years at Elmer Reinhart Car Dealership and then was secretary/treasurer of Pocono Township until his retirement in 1987.
Shortly after high school he served in the U.S. Navy for four years and then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945 as a radio operator and gunner on B-17s.
He was a member of Cherry Lane United Methodist Church; the Barger Lodge #325 F&AM and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Sullivan Trail Post 15040.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Charles LeRoy "Lee" Munch of Nashville, Tenn., Barry E. Munch and his wife, Kathryn, of Stroudsburg, Carol J. Munch of Milford, Conn., and Joan K. Benevento and her husband, John, of North Haven, Conn.; six grandchildren, Lisa Rodia and her husband, Craig, John C. Munch and his wife, Cathy, Jennifer A. Munch, Laura E. Munch, Chandra Benevento and Brandon Benevento; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, from the Cherry Lane United Methodist Church, Cherry Lane Road, Tannersville, with the Rev. Bum Koo Chung officiating. Cremation will take place at the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg with private burial at a later date in Cherry Lane Methodist Cemetery.
