Morris Eugene Sills, known as Gene Sills, passed away peacefully on the 15th of July 2018.
He was born in Brownsville, Tennessee on March 4th 1925.

He joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific with the 46th Sea Bee Construction Battalion at Guadalcanal, New Britton and other Solomon Island locations. After the war he joined the U.S. Army and served at Ft Lewis, WA and also with the 82nd Airborne at Ft Bragg.

He later worked in the agriculture industry from the time he left the military until his retirement at the age of 62 while living in Longview, Texas.

After he retired he moved to his new home in Pagosa Springs, Colorado with his first wife, Dorothy E Sills. While there, Dorothy discovered she had cancer, and they moved back to Austin, Texas in 1995 to be with family. Dorothy passed away on October 23 2000.

Gene later married his second wife, Ruth Stover Sills who he was married to at the time of his death.

Gene is survived by his wife Ruth, his two sons from previous marriage, Gary W. Sills and Larry E Sills. Gene has three grandchildren, John Sills, Jennifer Sills Almeida and Jason Sills. He also has seven Great Grandchildren, Slade, Olivia, Alexia, Bristol, Jacob, Ethan and Sara. He loved his family and was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Sunset Canyon Baptist Church, 4000 Hwy 290W at 4:30 on the 23rd of December. Gene was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. May GOD give him the rest and peace he so deserves.
