Steven Bernauer Sr.
1951-2005

Steven E. Bernauer, Sr. 53, of Davenport passed away at his home on Sunday April 24, 2005.

He was born August 9, 1951, in Davenport, the son of Robert and Betty Comer Bernauer. Mr. Bernauer served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airbourne Division from 1971-1973 when he received an honorable discharge.

In 1971, Mr. Bernauer married Mary Elliott in Davenport. They were divorced in 1988.

He was employed by Oscar Mayer for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars. Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Shelly and Tom Fritz, and a son Steven Jr. and Angela Bernauer, all of Davenport; two grandaughters, Tiffany and Raya, of Davenport; sibblings and spouses, Gene and April Zemke of Renton, Wash., Carol Keller of Davenport, Gerald and Linda Bernauer, of Davenport, Gloria and Charles Huston of Bettendorf, Melvin Bernauer of Davenport, and Kelvin Garrow of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the Runge Motuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family.

*An Old Friend Remembered. I remember also how he loved his motorcycle. Please feel free to add pictures to this memorial site for Steve. He was cremated and ashes were given to his daughter.
