OPAL HIXSON
ADA - Memorial services for Opal Blevins Hixson, 91, Allen, Texas, formerly of Ada, are 1 p.m. Thursday at Ada Church of the Nazarene, the Rev. Andrew J. Lewis will officiate.

Mrs. Hixson died Sunday, Jan.21, 2007, at a care home in Allen, Texas. She was born March 6, 1915, in Okemah, Okla., to James Henderson and Mae Allston Henderson.

She married Hinkle Blevins Aug. 28, 1936, in Lula, Okla. He died Oct. 10, 1951. She married Taz Hixson on Oct. 20, 1955, in Ada, Okla. He died July 24,1992.

She moved to Ada in 1935 and graduated from East Central State College in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in education and in 1954 with a master's degree in education. During her 33 years of Oklahoma public school teaching, she taught
elementary and secondary students in Pontotoc, Asher, Latta and Byng. In recent years she moved to Plano, Texas, to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Isaac Hinkle Blevins, Murphy, Texas; a daughter,Patricia Ann Lewis, Plano, Texas; grandsons, the Rev. Andrew J. Lewis,McKinney, Texas, and Christopher H. Blevins McKinney, Texas; granddaughters,
Rebecca A. Langevin, McKinney, Texas, Tracy L. Blevins, Lubbock, Texas, and Carol A. Blevins, Murphy, Texas; great grandsons, Nathan A. Lewis, McKinney, Texas, Jared A. Lewis, McKinney, Texas, and Christopher F. Behmardi, Lubbock,Texas; and a brother, Roy Henderson, Springdale, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and a brother, Paul Henderson.

The family said memorial contributions may be made to Ada Church of the Nazarene.
