STORM LAKE BUENA VISTA VIDETTE - Fri, Feb 16, 1912 - After intense suffering of one week and an illness of seeral years, Mrs August Witter died Saturday morning.
The funeral was conducted Monday at the house and the body was laid to rest in the Storm Lake cemetery where three of her children already lie buried.
Mary Hannan was born at Council Bluffs March 14, 1870. Her early life was spent in various parts of Iowa and on Oct 28, 1900, she was married at Newell to August Witter. A few years ago they moved to Storm Lake.
Eight children were born to them, three of whom have died while one little girl and four boys survive. One of the little boys has made his home with relatives at Newell for several years and will continue to do so, while the other four children were taken Tuesday to Sioux City and placed in the Sisters Home where they will be kept and brought up.
Mrs Witter in addition to her husband and children leaves six sisters and 5 brothers, of these two sisters: Della and Lizzie of Vail and two brothers, Will of Vail and Ed of Lake Park were at the funeral.
Mr Witter desires us to say that he wishes to thank the citizens of Storm Lake for the many kindnesses they have shown his family ever since he moved here as on account of illness of his wife and children, they have been in constant need of help.
