Dorothy Ellen Mitchell was the fourth child of eighteen children born to Jack Mitchell (1897-1976) and Velma Gatlin Mitchell (1898-1987). She was born in Cash Point, TN.

She and her husband, Paul Spencer (d. 2005), lived in Franklin, TN with their two children: Danny and Eddie (d. 2001). Dorothy was a hairdresser.

Her sudden and tragic death during the holiday season was a shock to her family and friends. She will be missed by many.
