Late Monday night the soul of John Mitchell answered the death angel's summons. Mr. Mitchell was one of the best known and oldest citizens of Monroe county and resided just west of Smithville, for many years. At the time of his demise he was 86 years of age, his death resulting from old age. He was a man of sterling qualities and a main-stay to any community he might have live in. Held in the highest esteem by his fellow men it is not at all remarkable that, community today mourns his loss. He was a member of the Christian church and a faithful worker in the cause of Christ. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon, the interment occurring at Smithville (sic).
