Son of Henry Nathaniel and Lydia Kate (née Probyn) Miers; husband of Vera-Enid (née Brydges-Todd) Miers; father of Richard Eustace Probyn Miers and John Henry Probyn Miers; brother of Sybil H Miers, Harold G. B. Miers and Vera Miers.

He was a pupil at St. Lawrence College in Ramsgate, Kent.
A Civil and Mining Engineer by trade, he served during the South African War (medal) and was promoted to Captain in 1914.
During the First World War, he served in Egypt (Mentioned in Dispatches).
Captain Meirs transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in 1917. He was killed in a flying accident.
