Services for Rollie James Bartlett, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2006, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. J. Kevin McCallon officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Kenton Cemetery.

Mr. Bartlett died at 9:20 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2006, at his residence.

A native of Paducah, he was a 39-year employee of the Paducah Water Works as a meter repairman and superintendent of distribution. He was a lifetime member of the American Water Works Association and a charter member of the Kentucky Water and Sewer Operators Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a Duke of Paducah.

Mr. Bartlett served several years as a director and chairman of the Paducah-McCracken County Senior Citizens and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Mr. Bartlett served as a member of the Aging Committee of the Purchase Area Development District (PADD) and was a member of the Special Advising Legislature Research Commission.

Mr. Bartlett, in his youth, played semi-professional baseball and in later years sponsored and managed Khoury League Baseball teams.

During World War II, he served as an Army Engineer attached to the 14th Air Force in China. He designed, improvised and built many water systems at numerous bases.

He is survived by a son, Rollie Brent Bartlett, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laurine Wood Bartlett; his second wife, Velda Robertson Bartlett; five siblings, Carl Bartlett, Mabel Alsman, Catherine Faulkner, John Bartlett and Rebecca Myers. His parents were William Webster and Lula (Schmitt) Bartlett.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
