Obituary - Grant County Herald, front page, Wednesday, August 16, 1916 - "Mrs. William Alcorn was born in Kentucky on Dec. 7, 1834 and passed away at her home in this city on Wednesday afternoon, August 9, 1916 aged 81 years, 8 months and 2 days. Deceased had been an invalid for the past two years, but her last illness lasted about one week. She came to Grant County in 1849 and on April 1, 1849 was married to William Alcorn in Potosi. Two years later they moved to Lancaster and since that time has made her home in this town. She leaves three sons and two daughters: Rev. William Alcorn of Fairfield, Neb. George of Omaha, Nebr., Joseph of Ladysmith, Wis., Mrs. Elvira Rigdon and Rose Alcorn of Lancaster. Mrs. Alcorn was a good Christian woman, a faithful wife and well liked by her neighbors and friends. Funeral Services were held at the Congregational Church, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Harberts. Internment at Hillside Cemetery.
