LACON - T. Raymond Umbarger, age 95, died at 10:26 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Sept. 2, 1911, in Carlock to Thomas and Mary Gingrich Umbarger. He married F. Lucille Brandt on Jan. 2, 1940, in Carlock. She survives.

Also surviving are two nephews, David Brandt of Carlock, and Jim (and Maureen) Brandt of Bloomington; one niece, Mary Beth (and James) Mailhot of Belmont, Mass.; six great-nephews and two great-nieces. Other survivors include one brother-in-law, Bob (and Barbara) Brandt of Bloomington; one sister-in-law, Marietta Brandt of Carlock; and five foster children, Art DeVoss of Ohio, Stan DeVoss of the Quad Cities, Roy DeVoss of Florida, Mike (and Lois) Leslie of Wyoming, Ill., and Rita Lewis of Chillicothe.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Umbarger, and one foster son, Randy Rebholz.

Raymond served with the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 593 of Lacon.

He enjoyed fishing, baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.

He was a member of the Lacon-Sparland United Methodist Church, where memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, with the Rev. John Eisfelder and the Rev. Leonard Thomas officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of ashes will be in the Lacon Cemetery, with military services by Lacon American Legion Post 593.
