Mitch and Sallie had nine children; Dorcas Frances, Lillian M., Samson, Arthur, Ludie, Johnnie Thomas, Paul Mitchell, Sarah, and Mary Ann Hooks.

Fannie Hooks Miller and Mitch were twins. His widow, Sallie Sanders Hooks', sister, Mattie, married Mitch's brother, John Monroe Hooks.
