Major Hubert A. McWilliams, US Army, Ret., 78, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away suddenly due to an automobile accident on Tuesday April 9, 2013.
Born on September 24, 1934 in Detroit, MI he was the son of the late Edgar W. and Nellie G. (Goode) McWilliams.
Hubert was a retired Major in the US Army who served in the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington, earning his Bachelor's degree in Geography. He was also retired from the Commonwealth of PA, where he was employed in the Dept. of General Services. He attended the Christian Life Assembly in Camp Hill. Hubert was a voracious reader. He also loved working in his yard, traveling, politics, and spending time with his three grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Lynn M. Gilmore and her husband David, of Millersburg, PA, and Candy Sue Bell, of Camp Hill, PA; two sons, Michael L. McWilliams, of Dillsburg, PA, and David B. McWilliams, of Lebanon, PA; three grandchildren, Amanda M. Gilmore, of Oakland, CA, Angela L. Gilmore, of Philadelphia, PA, Carolyn M. Gilmore, at home in Millersburg, PA; a brother, Wallace McWilliams and his wife Mary Lou, of Martinsville, IN
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, whom he adored, Carolyn M. (Deboor) McWilliams.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. on Sunday April 14, 2013 in the Costin Funeral Home, 539 East Washington St., Martinsville, IN. A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be held immediately following the service in Poplar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Monrovia, IN.
