Martin Hull was born in Pennsylvania, and in 1832, his family moved to New Berlin, Stark, Ohio. Martin's surname was Holl. He married Matilda Hoover from Buffalo, New York in 1846,and they had two sons; Arlington P.and Filmore. At some point, both sons changed their last name to Hall. After the death of Matilda in 1851, Martin's second marriage was to Mary Woods Bowers in 1852, and together they had four children. Mary died in 1869, and in 1870, Martin changed his name to Hull and married Mrs.Sarah Greeves. They divorced in 1888 and Martin then married Jennie Johnson in 1890.
