Mrs. Vera Hayes Greer, 78, of 387 Greer Road, Vilas, wife of the late Arvil Frank Greer, died Monday morning, Sept. 2, 2002, at Watauga Medical Center.
She was born July 10, 1924, in Vilas, Watauga County, to the late Stuart Blaine and Esther Coffey Hayes.
Mrs. Greer was a homemaker and retired from TRW/IRC, Inc. in 1983. She was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, three sons, three sisters, 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Arvil Greer; four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Anderson, Mrs. Wilma Hodges, Mrs. Doyce Shore and Mrs. Stella Hodges; and five brothers, Carl Hayes, Ray Hayes, Blaine Hayes, Edward Hayes and Alton Hayes.
Services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. Burial followed in Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
