Troy Lee Allen
Troy Lee Allen, son of George and Ella Allen, was born the son of a Missouri farmer in Harrison County, Missouri, near Hatfield, Missouri. He was born on October 16, 1915 and passed away September 8, 1991 at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 22 days. He was united in marriage on October 9, 1934 to Lucy Viola Tull. To this union three children were born. Being of sound mind he loved to reminiscence on his younger years as a farmer and the hard times he saw, especially during the depression years, and the Model T cars he had owned. He worked the farm until he was stricken with cancer five years ago. He spent the last 43 ears of his life around the Delphos area, farming his land, and helping the neighbors and working out for the larger farmers of the area and loving every moment of watching his plants grow. He spent the last four weeks of his life in the Gentry County Memorial Hospital where he was so weak that he could not stand, sit or walk. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Lucy, of Redding, Iowa; one son, Dean and Wife Terri Allen of Fontana, California; two daughters, LaVone Catherine and husband Eugene Moss of Lenox, Iowa, and Patsy May and husband Robert Hashberger of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil Allen of Tingley, Iowa and Mila Allen of Diagonal, Iowa, and one brother-in-law, Cecil Johnston of Mount Ayr, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant grandson, Billy Ray Moss, and his one and only sister, Carrie Johnston. Although he is no longer in our presence he is greatly missed by his family and relatives and his many, many friends in the community. Funeral services were held September 11, 1991, from te Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Norman Noble. Music was provided by Mrs. Douglas Frost and Mrs. Howard Tull. Casketbearers were Ronald Allen, Howard Tull, Jerry Allen, Willis Allen, Willie Lee Tull and Robert Johnston. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
