The Mineral Point Tribune; May 13, 1915

Monday morning, mother earth covered up all that was mortal of Mr. Abe Campton, a pioneer of the Willow Springs settlement, a few miles southeast of this city. It is about 68 years since Mr. Campton settled there. He died about 11 o’clock, Friday evening, the 7th, and had he lived four months longer he would have registered his 88th birthday.

Deceased was widely known and so well did he conduct himself as a citizen, as the head of a family, as a neighbor, that he commanded the unbounded respect of one and all.
