William Cookson Dies Last Evening
William (Allie) Cookson, 79, of Willshire, O., died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday at the Berne nursing home. He fractured a hip in a fall at his home July 28, and had been ill since that time.
He was born in Portsmouth, O., Jan. 11, 1882, a son of Isaac and Mary Grimm-Cookson, and was married to Alma Smith April 19, 1905. His wife preceded him in death Dec. 12, 1950. The family hd lived in Willshire since 1912.
Mr. Cookson, a carpenter for the Pennsylvania Railroad, retired in 1947. He was a member of the Willshire Methodist Church and the Knights of Pythias Lodge at Willshire.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Pearle (Dora) McGough of Willshire, Mrs. Preston (Mary) Martin of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Vilas (Golda) Feasel and Mrs. Russell (Faye) Kinnaman, both of Fort Wayne; one son, Darrell Cookson of Decatur; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Harve Steele of Kalamazoo, Mich., and a half-sister, Mrs. Stella Marks of Three Rivers, Mich. One son, one brother and a half-brother are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Zwick Funeral Home, the Rev. William Powers officiating. Burial will be in the Willshire Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today until time of the services.
