Jeannie L. Morris, 48, of New Bern, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Jeannie was a loving sister and friend. She loved hugs and was like a ray of sunshine to everyone that she met. She was a member of the New Bern Church of God and looked forward to going to church every chance that she got.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Edward Morris and Virginia Dunn Morris and two brothers, George Freeman Morris and William David Morris.

A service to celebrate Jeannie's life will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the New Bern Church of God with Pastor David Salmons officiating. Burial will follow at the Gaskins Family Cemetery in the Cool Springs community where she will be laid to rest with her parents.

Jeannie is survived by four sisters, Margie Morris Jones and husband William of Jasper, Betty Lou Morris of Arapahoe, Evelyn Stevens of Federal Way, Wa. and Sadie Ann Morris and husband Roy Preston of Blount's Creek; five brothers, Edward Earl Morris and wife Margie of Westville, S.C., Carroll Lee Morris of Lawton, Ok., Otis Ray Morris of Bridgeton, Dan Albert Morris and wife Yadira of Columbia, S.C. and Mark Dunn Morris of Bridgeton. She is also survived by a special nephew, Billy Jones and his wife Paula who provided loving care to Jeannie.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the New Bern Church of God and at other times at the home of William and Margie Jones.
