He was by occupation a telegraph operator.
On Sept. 16, 1920, in Kahoka he married Helen N. Crandell, who died June 18, 1945. During World War II he was appointed custodian of Camp Ellis, IL, and on July 10, 1952, married Frances Hammond in Memphis, MO.
She survives with a daughter, Mrs. E.J. Spitzer, a grandson and 3 sisters, Mrs. H.A.Daughtery, Mrs. Claude Simpson and Mrs. Theodore Duffield.
He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Order and a Knight Templar.
