On February 26, 1931 he married Margaret Lee Carlyle in Chula, MO. They had two daughters, Martha Ann and Mary Caroline.
Bob practiced law in Chillicothe for 51 years and served as City Attorney and Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney. He served on the Chillicothe School board.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Legion, Optimist Club, Masonic Lodge, and Friendship Lodge AF & AM.
