"Harold L Cope, 72, of Franklin Township, formerly of Sarasota, Fla., passed away Sept. 23, 1994. Mr. Cope was employed by the Internal Revenue Service, retiring after 15 years of service. He was formerly employed as a clerk at the Akron Post Office. He was a member of the Postal Workers Union, where he was past president the I.R.S. Union, where he was past president A.A.R.P., and a Red Cross Volunteer where he was a First Aid instructor. He served during World War II in the Army Infantry, receiving a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Lillian Cope, he is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ruth M. Cope; brother, Edward L (Myra) Cope of Longwood, Fla.; sister-in-law, Helen Waltz of Akron; nephew... niece... great-nieces... several cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Sept. 26, 1994, at 11 a.m., at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Fr. James R. Schleicher officiating. There will be calling one hour prior to service at the Schermesser Funeral Home, Suburban South Chapel, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Route 619). Burial at Greensburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. P.O. Box 1818, Memphis, Tenn. 38101-9903."
