Services were held for Verna Mae Brewer, 81, on Saturday, October 7, at 1:00 p.m. in the Shelby Chapel in East Prairie with Bro. Ernest Brown, Pastor of the Alexander Freewill Baptist Church, of Olive Branch, IL officiating. Burial followed in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
Mrs. Brewer, a resident of East Prairie, died on Thursday, October 5, 1995 at 4:00 a.m. in the East Prairie Nursing Center following an extended illness.
She was born on June 14, 1914, in Ridgely, TN, daughter of the late Morgan David and Carrie Elizabeth Miller Henderson. Mrs Brewer had lived most of her life in Mississippi County, where she was a member of the First General Baptist Church of East Prairie.
On June 7, 1930 she married Newt Brewer in Winnburg, TN. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1975.
Suvivors include: four sons, Eldred Brewer, of Mayfield, KY, David, Frank and Michael Brewer of East Prairie; nine daughters, Elizabeth Miller, Annie Chance, Barbara McAfee, Cordy Brewer, Brenda Riggins, Phyllis Williams, Kaye Youngblood and Donna Shands all of East Prairie and Verna Lou Williams of Whitesburg Tn; one brother Herman Henderson of Trimble, TN and one sister Ruth Rice of East Prairie; 46 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, one sister and her twin brother.
Pallbearers were Kenny Brewer, Dickie Chance, Wayne Brewer, Don Chance, Danny Brewer and Jason Youngblood.
Honorary Pallbearers were Glenn Brewer, Ronnie Chance, Randy Chance, Chris Miller, Brink Chance, Chad Williams and Joey Brewer.Brother's Obituary:

Herman Henderson, 89, of Trimble, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 at his residence.

He was a farmer, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Trimble First Baptist Church and treasurer of the men's Sunday school class, a member of the Lion's Club and a Mason.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Trimble First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Oakley officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Survivors include Ray Hood, Kirk Hood and Kevin Hood; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ludie Pearl Henderson; two brothers, Bernie Ray Henderson and Verna Mac Brewer; and two sisters, Ruth Adams and Mable Pollock.

Pallbearers will be Arnold Grief, Richard Park, Mark Green, Danny Medley, Randy Brock and Bill Brock. Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Adams, Milton Magee, Glen Carpenter and Eddie Ray Bell.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to Caris Hospice of West Tennessee.
