He passed away at his home on Rosemount Ave, Westmount. He emigrated to Canada in 1884. In his youth, he played football with the Britannia Club and rowed with the Lachine Rowing Club.
He was the manager of a number of Ontario branches of the Sovereign Bank of Canada. In 1912, he became president of the Dominion Mercantile Protective Association (Montreal) and later entered the income tax branch of the civil service.
Surviving are his widow, the former Alice Stuart McGibbon of Montreal, a daughter, Mrs Ross Robertson Jr of Montreal, and two sons, D.A. Fisher of Cobourg, Ontario and W. H. Fisher of New York. His youngest son Fred was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross for his gallantry in the Second Battle of Ypres.
