The daughter of Frederick Peters and Mary Freesmeyer, Rena married Everton D. Watson on 28 Oct 1912 in Calhoun County, Illinois. They were the parents of 4 children.

In his early years, Rena's husband was a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. He later lived in Jerseyville, Illinois and worked as a farmer for several years.

The Watsons moved to Alton in 1933. He eventually worked for the Alton School District for 16 years until his retirement in 1957.

Rena and Everton were members of the 12th Street Presbyterian Church.

She died 23 days after her 96th birthday at Blu-Fountain Manor following a long illness. She was survived by 2 daughters, Mary Walter of St. Louis, Missouri, and Vera West of Jacksonville, Florida; 2 sons, Fred Watson and Everett Watson, both of Alton, Illinois; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rena was preceded in death by her husband, Everton, who passed away in 1962.

Visitation was held at Smith Funeral Home on 31 Jan 1984. Funeral services were conducted there at 10:30 a.m. the following morning.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the 12th Street Presbyterian Church.
