Father of four daughters and four sons--all living--Hartman leaves a wife, Louise, 26 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The four sons are Walter of Hessville, Paul of Hammond, William of Black Oak and Delbert of Hammond. The daughters are Mrs. Gladys Hansen and Mrs. Rose Naugle of Hammond, Mrs. Mary Carnahan of Dyer, and Mrs. Lucille Smith of Highland.
Hartman spent the last 45 days of his life in Hammond. At one time he was employed at the Taylor Chain company and later at American Steel Foundries Simplex plant. Still later he was custodian at Standard Forgings plant, which he served for 21 years.
When the outerdrive was built in Chicago he worked as a laborer on the project.
Besides his wife, children and grandchildren, Hartman is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Frances Timmons of Hillsdale, Mich., and Mrs. Elizabeth Van Gundy of Hammond; and one brother, Moses of Dunlop, Ind.
Services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. from the Neidow chapel, 117 Rimbach with Rev. Hilton Whitaker officiating.
