Lee Davis Lovelace was born in his family's ranch house May 16, 1941, to Raymond and Leta (White) Lovelace in Claunch. Lee grew up in Claunch and graduated from Corona High School.
As a teenager, Lee liked his fast cars and loved his mother's pinto beans. After graduation, Lee entered the Marine Corps at 17.
During his time in the military, Lee married the love of his life, Lynda (Martin) Lovelace on June 15, 1970, in Des Moines, Iowa. Lee honorably served our country for 26 years and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He was honorably discharged Dec. 31, 1984, after serving in Japan, Korea and four tours in Vietnam.
Lee was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a personality all of his own and loved a good joke. He enjoyed many things throughout his life. including hunting, fishing, cooking, puzzles, reading western books, John Wayne movies and NASCAR. Lee also had a soft spot for his pets, his dogs, "Little Bit", "Butch" and "Buster Brown" and his cat "Ozzy".
Lee was a member of the National VFW, the Moose and the Eagles. Lee will be greatly missed by all who knew him and remembered for his compassion and generosity. Lee would help anyone in need.
Lee is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynda, daughters Diana (Jim) Lindblad and Debra Lovelace; sons Kevin Wrede (partner Peggy Dewease), Lee Lovelace Jr. (partner Karlie Miller) and Michael Lovelace; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nephews Lonnie Wyatt Bussey of Clovis, Kenny Rice of Killeen, Texas and Monty Bussey; niece Teresa Tucker of Amarillo, Texas; daughter in-law Margaret Martin; and sister-in-law Barbara Lovelace of Tucson AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son John Martin; brothers Butch Lovelace and Jack Lovelace and sister Nelda Bussey.
A memorial service for Lee D. Lovelace of Roseau, MN, formerly of Alamogordo, will be held Monday, April 1, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
