Susan Surber Demaree was born August 26d, 1832, in Jefferson county, Indiana, and departed this life at Woodward at the home of her son, James Demaree 1222 Main street, June 29th, at the age of 86 years, 10 months and six days.
She was united in marriage to Daniel Perry Demaree, April 24th, 1851, who preceded her to the better land 21 years ago to the very day. To this union were born five children, two sons of whom are now living. They are James Demaree of this city, with whom the deceased resided, and Cyrus Demaree of Pueblo, Colorado, together with the daughter-in-laws and several grandchildren remain to mourn her death.
The decease was converted at an early age and had lived an active christian life for nearly 70 years. She, with her husband, D. P. Demaree, were charter members of the United Brethren Church at Stillwater, Oklahoma, in which each retained their membership until death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, July 1st, at 4:00 o'clock at the Chenoweth-Tromblee Chapel, with Rev. W. A. Holbrook, pastor of the United Brethren Church at Hennessey, Oklahoma, in charge. The body was shipped Tuesday evening to Stillwater for burial.
