Educator, Lawyer, California Legislator, and District Attorney for Yuba County. He was a 'mover and a shaker' in Yuba County in the early 20th century as his many career positions convey. He had the misfortune to be present at the Wheatfield Hop Riots at the Durst Ranch in August 1913. When the protests became violent, D.A. Manwell was one of several people present who were killed in the fray. His wife died 5 years later of influenza in 1918. He and his wife were the parents of nine children.
