Betty Lou Norton of Baldwin City died Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Topeka.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will precede the service from 12 noon - 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Douglas County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.

Betty was born June 27, 1940 in Hays, KS to Everett and Eva (Morton) Coleman. She later moved to WaKeeney where she graduated from Trego Community High School in 1958. After graduation, she moved to Denver, CO and attended Barnes Business School.

On October 15, 1960 she married Bill Norton and they had two sons.

In Denver, Betty worked for Samsonsite Luggage for several years before the family moved to Colorado Springs. Upon their return to Denver, Betty worked in several positions in the Cherry Creek School District. In 2005 she retired from the school district and they moved to Baldwin City to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and sister Janice Coleman. She is survived by her husband Bill, sons Brian of Waukee, IA and Bradley (Paige) of Gardner, grandchildren, Greer and Finley of Gardner, sister Marjorie Deines (Don) of Beatrice, NE, and Nancy Tomanek (Gary) of WaKeeney. Betty was also an Aunt, Cousin and friend to many people whom she loved.
