The grave stone of CAPTAIN JACOB ROMER, New York Militia during the American Revolution whose son, John Romer, was in a group of 7 militia-men who captured BRITISH SPY, Major John Andre in 1780 in Tarrytown, New York. BRITISH SPY, Major Andre was carrying fortification plans of the American Fort at West Point located on the Hudson River which could have permitted the British forces to sail gun-ships unhindered up the Hudson river and thereby decimate Colonial towns, armies and Colonial fortifications and thus maintain a British Colonial America.

Therefore, John Romer of the New York colonial militia and 6 other militia-men were instrumental in the success of the American Revolution. Wife of Jacob Romer: FRENA HAERLAGER 1747 Both Jacob and Frena emigrated to America from Switzerland. 1754 Jacob and Frena married in Sleepy Hollow Church in Tarrytown, New York (on the Hudson River) By Reverend Johannes Rh_ zen on August 20, 1754

Jacob died Feb 14, 1807 at age 93. Frena died January 2, 1819 at age 94.
