Death Comes To Mrs. Simmons

Death came early this morning to Mrs. Roy Simmons, long-time resident of the Fairfield community.

Mrs. Simmons, 80, died about 2 a.m. at her home, 304 W. Hempstead. She had been in failing health for the past several years.

Her husband, who had been caring for his wife during her illness, is a patient at the Jefferson county hospital for medical treatment.

Last rites will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Raymond funeral home with the Rev. J. Roland Crandall in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Bessie Simmons was born July 16, 1882, at Table Grove, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Martha Portlock Hoyle. She was united in marriage on April 8, 1906 to Roy Simmons who survives. She had been a resident of Fairfield for 47 years, and was a member of the Methodist church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edith Carlson, Alhambra, Calif.; one brother, Glen Hoyle, Waukegan, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. June Dankies, Grand Island, Neb.; three grandchildren and eight grandchildren; and a niece, Mrs. Velma Parrett, Fairfield, who made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Simmons for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one son in infancy.
