JAMES D. ADAMS

FUQUAY-VARINA - James D. Adams, son of the late Elder T. Floyd and Pauline Adams, beloved husband of 62 years and generous father of four left this world to join his creator on Wednesday, February 21, 2001. He will always live in the heart and experiences of his wife, Hazel Tilley; his daughters, Tilley, Anna and Barbara Jane and his son, Jim. James lived his life devoted to his wife and children, mother and father, brothers and sisters. He epitomized a strong work ethic, a sense of responsibility to his fellow man, a loving heart and fairness to all who were a part of his life. James demonstrated a true compassion for others less fortunate and in his quiet but insistent way he was always there with a helping hand.

James also taught his children how to both laugh and cry. He left each of us with a sense of humor, an open heart, a willing spirit, the commitment to learn, the need to share, the desire to improve in the world in which we live and a strong faith in Christ. He taught us tears were healing, reaching out for help was a sign of strength, love was essential to happiness, and in giving we gain humility. The loss of his presence will also be felt by our spouses: Reese Bailey, Emmett Aldredge, Winston Eaton, Kathy Smith Adams and his four grandchildren, Julianna Proctor, Roger Huntley, Amy Maria James, Allison Adams and one great-granddaughter, Chelsea Byrd Lang.

We give up his soul to our Heavenly Father knowing that we shall all meet again.

The family will receive visitors at Thomas Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 22.

Those wishing to honor James life are requested to do so through memorials to The Alzheimer's Association, 919 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 1000, Chicago, Illinois 60610, the building fund of the Fuquay-Varina Presbyterian Church, Post Office Box, 1126, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina 27526 or by gifts of flowers.

The Reverend Craig Holladay will conduct a service of celebration in Fuquay-Varina at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on Friday, February 23, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
