Shawnee resident Gilbert Gordon Alley, 89, died Wednesday, March 23, in Oklahoma City.
He was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Parks, Ark., to James Julius and Cerrilla Cordelia (Blackwell) Allen. He moved to Welty at the age of 9. After he graduated from Mason High School, he joined the military and lived in California, Kansas, Texas and Illinois.
He moved to the Shawnee area following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, where he and his wife have resided every since.
He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
On Nov. 12, 1942, he married Judith B. Wixon in Tulsa.
Following his retirement from the military, he worked as an aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Base. He also retired from TAFB. He then turned to farming.
He was proceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Judith B. Alley of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Maryon L. and Harold W. Shaver of Yukon; son, Gerald Gordon Alley of Shreveport, La.; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Talmadge Alley and James Julius Alley, both of Inola; four sisters, Birdie Lovell of Henrietta, Texas, Oleana Seal of Choctaw, Ruby E. Incerto of Yukon and Helen Ruth Jones of El Reno; numerous other relatives.
Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with the Rev. Will Bentley officiating.
Burial will be at REsthaven Memorial Park under the the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh
