Stephen W. Burwash Sr., 78, of 2920 East R. St., died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was a retired edger for a Tacoma lumber company, having lived here, 35 years. He was born in St. Andrews, East Quebec, Canada. Burwash was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Tacoma Aerie No. 3, FOE. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice Mary Burwash; two sons, Chester V., of Port Angeles and Stephen W. Jr., Tacoma; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Blair, both of St. Andrews; two grandchildren, Cathleen Burwash and Martin Burwash, both of Tacoma, and two step-grandchildren, Judith and Roger Hendrickson, Port Angeles.
