Dr. Harmon T. Rhoads, 61, for the past seventeen years an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist here, died at a Seattle hospital Thursday, Feb. 6, following a bried illness. His residence was on Cavalero's hill, route two Everett, overlooking the Shohomish Valley, the city and puget sound.
Born in Wichita, Kansas, January 8, 1880, Dr. Rhoads was reared on a farm. He prepared for his profession at the medical school of the University of Kansas City and in 1910 he began practing in Arkansas. After two years in that state he moved to Montana, where in addition to following the medical profession he became interested in politics, serving in both houses of the state legislature.
Dr. Rhoads came to Everett in July, 1924, and since has been practicing here. He was active in fraternal life of the city, having been a member Everett Elks lodge No 479, W.O.W. of Everett, Alpha Lodge No. 212, F & A.M.., and the York and Scottish rite bodies here and of Algeria Shrine temple of Helena, Montana.
The veteran physician is the father of Dr. Harmon T. Rhoads Jr., who accompanied the Lincoln Ellsworth expedition to the South Polar regions a few years ago. The son , who followed him into the medical profession now is located in New York City.
In addition to Harmon Jr. Dr. Rhoads is survived byhis widow, Pheobe at home; three sons Charles of Olympia, James of Salem Ore., and John Rhoads, now attending school at Ellensburg; four brothers Jesse Davis of Montana, Edward Davis of Port Orchard, Mark Rhoads of Kansas and Willie Rhoads in Arkansas; a sister Mrs Pearl Raburn of Arkansas, and three grandchildren. Funeral services for Dr. Rhoads were held at the chapel of Challecomber & Fickel at 1 o'clock , Feb 8, with the Rev. Carl H. Norgaard, assised by Alpha Lodge, conducting the service. Burial was in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery
