Donald Franklin Wells, 77, of Batavia died on October 8, 2008 at Jefferson County Hospital. He was a retired school custodian. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Shipley officiating. Interment will be in Batavia Cemetery. He was born on April 20, 1931 in Ottumwa, the son of Frank and Maude (Burke) Wells. He married Darlene Vivian Hartley on February 15, 1963 in Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his half brother, Dallas Clarence McCrory. Survivors include his wife, Darlene; his sons, John Wells and David Wells, both of Batavia; his sister, Jane Briggs of Lockridge; his half sister, Naomi Poncy of Ottumwa; his half brother, Carl McCrory of Laguna Woods, California; and one granddaughter.
