His obituary in The Vancouver Sun on Tuesday 18 April 1967 reads as follows: "ACKLEY April 15, 1967, Harley Abram Ackley, 935 Calverhall St., North Vancouver, in his 82nd year. Former owner of the Terminal Cartage Ltd. Member of the Zion Lodge No. 77, A.F. & A.M. and I.O.O.F. No. 3 Royal City Lodge. Survived by 2 sons, Robert Earl and Gordon H., Vancouver; 1 daughter, Mrs. Bernice Gillings, North Vancouver; 1 brother, Clarence, San Francisco; 1 sister, Mrs. Florence Bicknell, Richmond. Funeral service in the Burrard Chapel, Lonsdale at 12th St., Thursday, April 20 at 1 p.m., to North Vancouver Cemetery, Rev. L. McArthur officiating."
