Sara Ann Alexander a native and resident of Baton Rouge passed away Monday April 1, 2013 at the age of 66. Ms. Alexander was retired from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Office of Conservation, State Mineral Board. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School, class of 1964 and Louisiana State University. Visiting will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge on Thursday April 4, 2013 from 12noon until memorial services at 2pm officiated by Rev. Brad Franklin. Graveside services will be at a later date. Ms. Alexander is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Grey Alexander Bilbao and Gilberto Bilbao; three nieces, Elizabeth Grace Bilbao, Susanna Katalina Bilbao, and Maria "Chela" Bilbao Smith and her husband Kyle Smith; her aunts, Cleada Norton Butts and Dorothy Wooton Butts; her cousins Sallie Nobles, Rebecca Hill, and Dana Rae Kinard, a lifelong friend, Vera Olds and extended family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, James. H. Alexander, Sr. and Ann Butts Alexander, a brother, James H. Alexander, Jr., and an uncle, Mitchell Butts, and an aunt Frances Gilson. Donations may be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, The Hospice of Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge General Foundation/Pennington Cancer Center, or the First United Methodist Church, in memory of Sara Ann Alexander. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care given Ms. Alexander by Dr. Michael Castine, Dr. William Russell, Dr. Robert Hinkle, Dr. Charles Mason, and staff of the 4th floor oncology unit at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Bluebonnet campus. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Smith, John R. "Rusty" Olds, T. B. "Tommy" Bennett, Jr., Myron A. "Mike" Walker, Jr., Jay Dardenne, Buddy Bloch, Gordon Walker, and Eduardo Bilbao.
