Charles McNeal
Charles Larry McNeal, 58, of Talmo and the Belmont Community, died Thursday, February 10, 2005, at his residence following a battle with cancer.
A native of Jackson County, he was born September 14, 1946, in Gainesville, and was the son of Howard and Evelyn Smith McNeal of the Fairview Community. He had a poultry farm in Jackson County, was a residential builder in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, and was a member of the Johnnie's Hill Masonic Lodge. Mr. McNeal had served in the Georgia National Guard and was an avid fisherman, according to family members.
Survivors include his wife, Nan Kinney McNeal, Talmo; a son and daughter-in-law, Trevor and Rhonda McNeal; two grand-children, Savannah and Triston McNeal, Haymarket, Va.; two step-children, Drew and Maggie Brock, Lula; his parents; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Jerry and Alan Dunaway, Suwanee, and Debra and Phil Henderson, Snellville; a brother and sister-in-law, Dan McNeal and Martha Honeycutt, Fairview Community; niece, Kari Dunaway; three nephews, 2nd Lt. Matt McNeal and his wife, Kathryn, Chris McNeal and Josh Dunaway.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 13, at Belmont Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Compton and Mark Spence officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan McNeal, Alan Dunaway, Phil Henderson, Randall Smith, Ronnie Martin, Roger Smith, John Hudgins and Tony Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Drew Brock, Josh Dunaway, Matthew McNeal and Christopher McNeal.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hebron Colony Ministries, Inc., 356 Old Turnpike Road, Boone, NC 28607.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson was in charge of arrangements.
