Shela Carlton Rucker, 81, of 407 West Broadway, died Sunday at Woodford Memorial Hospital in Versailles. She was a native of Anderson County, daughter of the late Robert Buford and Rosie Lee Champion Carlton and widow of Marion Rucker.
She was a retired employee of Texas Instruments in Versailles, was a member of First Baptist Church and the New Hope Sunday School Class, and attended Kavanaugh High School.
Survivors include four sons, Eldon Rucker, Irvin Gale Rucker, Hugh Allen Rucker, and David Rucker; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmy (Phyllis) Pittman, all of Lawrenceburg; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Beryl Rucker; a grandson; two brothers, John Willie Carlton, and R.B. Carlton; and five sisters, Annie Brown, Mabel Carlton, Onita Carlton, Elizabeth Carlton, and Pauline Carlton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jeff Eaton and Bro. Bob C. Jones officiating. Burial in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 8 a.m. today (Wednesday).
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Rucker, Lynn Carlton, Jimmy Pittman, Connie Carlton, Roger Carlton, and Gary Rucker.
Honorary Bearers will be Kenneth Rucker, Renzie Powell, Marion Samuel Gabhart, Steve Rucker, Sammy Waits, Curtis Briscoe, Harold Flynn, Bobby Lacefield, Jerry Carlton, Gilbert Sea and Marvin Lee Carlton.
