He was born to Frank Joseph and Martha Jane (Funk) Taraba. On October 31, 1942, he married in Chicago, Illinois to Dorothy (G. or T.) Goddard. They were parents of two children: Frank Joseph Taraba II and Julie Evelyn Taraba. Following his death, Dorothy remarried to Robert P. Ratz. Ralph was a medical doctor. He died of cerebrovascular accident.
